why you should use PHP Scripts
| If
this
is your first time setting up a website, you may be wondering why you
should use a PHP script over other types of coding. Why not use a CGI
or ASP script? While we wouldn't say PHP makes other forms of coding
"obsolete", there are many benefits to using PHP coding. Here are a few
reasons
we came up with. 1. PHP is much simpler than other types of coding - Even if your're an absolute beginner to PHP, it's not that hard to make basic changes to a script. The fact that PHP is a simpler type of coding means that it's much easier to find somebody to do work for you who truly knows what they're doing. It can also be much cheaper and easier to add new features to your script. Many PHP scripts such as Wordpress have many contributors who volunteer their time to make improvements and create new plugins. 2. PHP can be used for both large and small websites - Anybody who says that PHP should only be used for smaller websites doesn't know what they're talking about. Facebook.com which is the second largest social networking website on the internet uses PHP for their website. There are also many large forums on the internet that run on a PHP based bulletin board such as Vbulletin. 3. PHP coding is fairly secure from hackers - Now we're not saying that all PHP scripts are built securely, but it is possible to have a script that can't easily be hacked into. If you're PHP script is secure, the only thing you have to worry about is your server which most hosting companies already have covered. 4. Hosting for PHP scripts is very affordable - The great thing about PHP scripts is that most hosting accounts will work for them. Most PHP scripts don't require a lot of special things installed on the server in order to work properly. In fact, you can get hosting for your PHP script for as little as $3.00 a month! 5. There are more PHP scripts on the market - Whether you're looking for a Myspace clone or an image host, you're more likely to find what you need written in PHP than with any other kind of coding. Since the marketplace can be fairly competitive, many PHP coders find it more profitable to offer their script for FREE and hope it goes viral. Most of the money they make is through donations or contextual advertisements on their site. |
